METRONOME PRAGUE POSTPONED TO NEXT YEAR
In reaction to the regulations enacted by the government, we unfortunately must confirm that despite our best efforts Metronome Prague will be postponed to June 17–19, 2021. We’re very sorry to have to make this decision, but all possibilities for a date this year have been exhausted.
In light of the uncertainty of the situation in three months’ time, we’re facing a case where no one will purchase tickets and therefore we cannot organize the festival in the way we would like. We asked to meet with representatives of the Ministry of Health, but we continue to receive the answer than only 500 people can gather in one place even though we were prepared to accept all possible preventive measures that we proposed that would prevent the potential spread of contagions better than current measures. Unfortunately, flights from the US are also uncertain, which would prevent the participation of some performers.
“From the entire Metronome team – please support us and keep your tickets for next year! We’re sorry that culture is at the bottom of the list of priorities for our leaders, so we have to help each other. We’re certainly not giving up and we’re preparing a gift in September for those who stand with us,” festival organizer David Gaydečka said. “Imagine a sort of halfMetronome,” co-organizer Martin Voňka added.
The good news is that talks with booking agents are positively progressing and more than half have confirmed the new date: June 17–19, 2021. We are hoping to postpone all of this year’s line up to next year including the chief headliners. We will announce the confirmed artists in the coming weeks, some of which you know and some of which we didn’t get the chance to announce.
All tickets purchased remain valid for the new date. One-day tickets will be valid for the date of the performance of the headliner that was purchased.
In case of serious reasons for refunding tickets, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org where we will address each situation individually. We understand that this situation is difficult for many of you, which is why we will try to accommodate you as best we can. We are very grateful for your patience and understanding! That is why we ask that you support Metronome Prague and keep your tickets for next year. By doing so, you will support our festival, our work, and the hundreds of people involved in our preparations.
We’re very thankful for your support of this unfortunate decision. We look forward to seeing you at the Výstaviště exhibition ground in June 2021. Stay with us!

ABOUT METRONOME PRAGUE
Metronome Prague’s vision is to be far more than just a festival – a magical landscape filled with experiences and moments in which visitors feel like Alice in Wonderland.
With area in the centre of the city, the magic of Prague itself and perfect timing at the most beautiful season of the year, top international stars and lots of other forms of art, Metronome Prague is striving to be number one among city-based music and art events.
Metronome Prague is the premier international music and arts event held in Prague and is now into its fifth year. The organisers aim to appeal to audiences of all ages and tastes, focusing on the very latest in modern music while not neglecting living legends in various genres. After four editions, the event is entering a new era. First step is changing the event’s name to Metronome Prague – Music and Arts Fair and expanding the original two-day celebration of music by an additional day. Prague’s biggest summer music event is also offering loads of other notable changes. With colourful trees, art installations and picnic spots, the entire festival environment will become magical, surreal and captivating. Further steps will follow.
The festival’s programming doesn’t neglect domestic artists, who frequently put on one-off events, such as a comeback show from Sexy Dancers or joint performances by J.A.R. and the Marantha Gospel Choir and by Ivan Král and Jiří Suchý. In the first four years of the festival, then under the original title Metronome Festival Prague, it played host to such stars as Kraftwerk, Primal Scream, Liam Gallagher, Morcheeba, Sting, Iggy Pop, Foals, Chemical Brothers, Kasabian, Tom Odell, Ella Eyre, David Byrne, John Cale and Massive Attack. Among domestic acts to appear have been Ohm Square, Floex, Ille, Tata Bojs 30, David Koller & Katarzia and the newly returned Sexy Dancers. HISTORY OF THE AREA
Prague’s Výstaviště exhibition ground and its ornate art deco Průmyslový palác (Industrial Palace) is part of the extended heart of the city. The festival grounds are close to the National Gallery, famous for its modern art collection; as well as the vast Prague Zoo with its near-century of history. The grounds themselves border Stromovka (the Royal Game Preserve), which happens to be the largest park in the Czech capital. It’s only a few minutes by public transportation to Prague’s most famous landmarks, includingPrague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Wenceslas and Old Town Squares, the art deco Vltava embankment, or the city’s world-famous modern architecture. The area just outside Prague offers a number of attractions as well, including the medieval castles of Karlštejn and Křivoklát; or Konopiště, the residence of the assassinated heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.
To reach the venue from the city centre by public transport take tram No 6 or 17 (“Výstaviště Holešovice” tram stop) or the C line of the underground (“Nádraží Holešovice” stop) and continue on foot for about 500 m.
